The pine weevils ( Pissodes ) are a genus from the family of the weevil . Many of the species belonging to this genus are forest pests.
They prefer to attack pines .
For all other species of the genus of Pissodes the head terminates in a long extension (trunk) on which at mid-length the sensor spring. Most species lay their eggs in holes that the female beetles gnaw where the bark is smooth and not too thick. The larvae eat their way through the bast in the direction of the roots.
