The Kiezpark Schönagelstraße is a barrier-free park in the Berlin district of Marzahn in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district .
history
In the past few years, around 250 new apartments have been built on Blumberger Damm in Marzahn-Mitte, as well as communal accommodation for around 1,000 refugees. That is why the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district decided to build a new neighborhood park for the new residents on a little-used green space between the Schönagelstrasse sports facility and the refugee community accommodation. In November 2017, there were three workshops for the planning of the new Kiezpark, in which residents of the communal accommodation, club members and many children took part. The park was created as part of the urban redevelopment east between 2018 and 2019 according to the rules of design for everyone , it can be used by people of all ages and with different abilities and attention was paid to accessibility during planning . With the Disabled Officer paths and pads, as well as access to the gaming machines were designed so that people with handicap can play without restrictions there. Large parts of the fall protection rooms are covered with plastic for wheelchair users to make them easier to drive on. The park area has different height differences, so in order to create a barrier-free park, a new model with retaining walls was necessary. The wall elements form seating blocks in different heights and variants.
The following topics were created: desert & steppe for 2- to 6-year-olds, a forest and meadow with a climbing course for 6 to 12-year-olds, a grassy landscape for all ages with cross-generational sports, a jungle for 12 to 16-year-olds Offers to chill out and do sports and a lawn stage for conversation and relaxation. There is also a slide tower and a play area with a cable car and slalom course for 3 to 12 year olds. On September 3, 2019, the new Kiezpark was officially inaugurated at 4 p.m. with neighbors, young and old, with music, cakes and games.
