Kim's work follows the tradition of abstraction using the color blue . For more than twenty years, Kim has been painting paintings almost exclusively in this color. In his series of works, called Ultramarine , Blanco y Azul or White and Blue , he explores the effect of the color blue and creates associations with water, sky or tree landscapes without actually showing them.

The exclusive use of blue gives color a new meaning that transcends and transcends anything that has ever been done with it in the past. [...] And that, in turn, means that the paintings by Tschoon Su Kim are not only about distributed form, but also about painting itself. They appear as an innovation of tradition, which makes them important and influences them contemporary painting ensures. "
