Kingpin is a British chess magazine that was founded in 1985.

The English magazine is characterized by its satirical style. This is already expressed in the title, because kingpin colloquially means main person or number one and on the other hand "king's bondage", which cannot be given according to the rules of chess (the king can neither tie another piece nor be tied up himself, otherwise he is in chess would stand).

The publication was originally three times a year and was ultimately only irregular. Jonathan Manley is the editor-in-chief. Past staff have included Grand Masters Stuart Conquest , Nigel Davies , Glenn Flear , Anthony Kosten and Jonathan Rowson .
