Stuart Conquest (born March 1, 1967 in Ilford (London) ) is an English chess player .
Career
Stuart Conquest won the U16 World Youth Championship in 1981 at the age of 14. In 1986 FIDE awarded him the title of International Master , and in 1991 the title of Grand Master . In 1997 he was British rapid chess champion , a year later he won the Kilkenny International Masters . In 1995 and 2000 he shared first place in Hastings. In 2001 he won a very busy grandmaster tournament in Clichy . In August 2008 he won the British Championship .
Since 2011 he has been the organizer of the annual Gibraltar Chess Festival .
Team chess
National team
Conquest took part with the English team in the 1996 , 2002 , 2006 and 2008 Chess Olympiads . At European Team Championships he was part of the English selection in 1999, 2001, 2007 and 2009.
Club chess
In the British Four Nations Chess League Conquest played in the 1993/94 season at the Barbican Chess Club , in the 1995/96 season at Bristol , in the 1997/98 season at Slough and from 1999 to 2013 at Guildford A&DC . Conquest has been playing at e2e4.org.uk since 2013 . He won the competition in 2004 , 2007 , 2008 and 2013 . In the German federal chess league Conquest played at SC Kreuzberg from 1986 to 1989 , from 1995 to 1997 at PSV / BSV Wuppertal , in the 1997/98 season at SV Castrop-Rauxel , from 1998 to 2000 at Delmenhorster Schachklub and from 2001 to 2003 at Lübeck Chess club from 1873 , with which he became German team champion in 2002 and 2003 . In the French team championship (until 2003 Nationale I , then Top 16 ) Conquest played until 2005 with Clichy Echecs , with whom he also participated seven times in the European Club Cup , in the 2005/06 and 2007/08 seasons at Montpellier Echecs . He won the Dutch master class in 1997 and 1998 with Panfox / De Variant Breda , and in the Spanish team championship in 2008 he played for Sestao Naturgas Energia XT .
