Keith Charles Arkell (born January 8, 1961 in Birmingham ) is an English chess player .

Life

In 1985 he received the title of International Master (IM), in 1995 the title of Grand Master (GM). In 1998 he was British rapid champion , at the British individual championship in 2008 he was second behind Stuart Conquest . He reached his highest rating in July 1996 with 2545. Arkell was 2014 Senior European Champion in Porto in the age group 50+.

From 1986 to 1993 he was married to the chess player Susan Lalić . In 2012 he published an autobiography titled Arkell's Odyssey ( ISBN 9780953132164 ).

Arkell played in the British Four Nations Chess League in the 1993/94 season with the North West Eagles , in the 1994/95 season with Slough , from 1995 to 2000 with the Midland Monarchs (renamed Bigwood in 1998 ), with whom he 1997 and Won the competition in 1998 , from 2000 to 2002 with White Rose , in the 2003/04 season with 3Cs , from 2005 to 2007 with Hilsmark Kingfisher and has played for Cheddleton since 2010 . In France he played with Nancy Échecs until 2002 .

Keith Arkell took part in seven European Club Cups : 1984 with the Rugby Chess Club , 1995 and 1996 with the Slough Chess Club , 2000 with Nancy Échecs , 2006 and 2007 with Hilsmark Kingfisher and 2015 with Cheddleton .
