Daniel W. Gormally (born May 4, 1976 ) is a British chess grandmaster .

Life

Gormally was named International Master in 1997 and has held the title of Grand Master (GM) since 2005. He earned the GM norms in August 2000 at the Ron Banwell Masters in London , at the Hastings chess tournament in 2002/03 and in 2005 at the Gibelecom Masters in Gibraltar . In 2006 he won the British Rapid Chess Championship .

National team

For the English national team, he played at the 2005 European Team Championship on the third board and the 2006 Chess Olympiad on the fourth board. He left the 2006 Chess Olympiad prematurely because of a fight.

In the British Four Nations Chess League , Gormally played for the Invicta Knights Maidstone in the 1994/95 season, for Croydon in the 1995/96 season , and again for the Invicta Knights Maidstone from 1996 to 1999 , with whom he also played at the 1998 European Club Cup participated, from 1999 to 2004 for Guildford A&DC , with whom he was champion in 2004 , from 2004 to 2006 for Wood Green , with whom he was champion in 2005 and 2006 , in the 2006/07 season for the Hilsmark Kingfisher , in the 2007 / 08 for Richmond , from 2010 to 2012 for Cheddleton , since 2012 he has been with Blackthorne Russia . In the French team championship Gormally played in the 2001/02 season for Echiquier Nanceien .
