Mark L. Hebden (born February 15, 1958 in Leicester ) is an English chess player and chess grandmaster .

Life

Hebden was British rapid chess champion in 1990, 1994, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013. Hebden won the Open in Cappelle-la-Grande in 1989, 1990, 1995 and 1997. At the 9th Open in Neuchâtel , he reached third place, tied with it the winner Tamas Gelashvili . At the Hastings chess tournament 2009/10 he finished fourth, tied with the winner Andrei Istrățescu . At the Bunratty International Chess Festival in 2001 he won the open Masters group and in 2013 the Bunratty Classic , which was held as a round - robin tournament alongside the open tournament , and he also won the Kilkenny International Masters in 2006, 2012, 2014 and 2015 .

He played for England at the 1998 and 2004 Chess Olympiads and the European Team Championships in 1983, 1989 and 2007.

In the British Four Nations Chess League Hebden played in the 1993/94 season for the Barbican Chess Club , in the 1995/96 season for Slough , from 1996 to 1998 for the Midland Monarchs , from 1998 to 2000 again for Slough , from 2000 to 2002 for Beeson Gregory , in the season 2002/03 and from 2004 to 2009 for Guildford A&DC , from 2009 to 2011 for Pride and Prejudice , in the season 2011/12 for Cheddleton , since 2012 he has played again for Guildford A&DC . He won the Four Nations Chess League 17 times, namely in 1996 , 1997 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2007 , 2008 , 2011 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , 2018 and 2019 . In the French team championship Hebden played for Clichy-Echecs-92 until 2003 , in the German Bundesliga he was registered with Hamburger SK in Hamburger SV in the 1984/85 season , but remained unused. At the European Club Cup took Hebden 1986 Streatham & Brixton London , in 1993 with the Barbican Chess Club , 1996 Slough and 1999 with Clichy-Echecs-92 part.
