Peter Kenneth Wells (born  April 17, 1965 in Portsmouth ) is a British chess player and writer.

He obtained the title of International Master in 1987 and became Grand Master in 1994 . In 1978, 1979 and 1980 he won the British Youth Championships in various age groups. He was also 2002, 2003 and 2007 British Champion in rapid chess .

His work as a chess author has so far mainly included works on various openings .

National team

At the 2004 Chess Olympiad in Calvià , Peter Wells took part in the second reserve board for the English national team, and during the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø he was team captain of the English selection. At the European Team Championships in 2003 and 2005 he played on the fourth board.

In the British Four Nations Chess League (4NCL) Peter Wells played in the 1993/94 season for the Barbican Chess Club, from 1996 to 2004 for the Slough Chess Club and the Sambuca Sharks, with whom he played in the 1998/99 and 1999 seasons / Won the competition in 2000 , from 2005 to 2007 for Hilsmark Kingfisher and since 2008 for the White Rose Chess team, with whom he also participated twice in the European Club Cup .

In the German Bundesliga he worked for SC Kreuzberg in the 1988/89 season , for SK Passau from 1996 to 2000 and for SC Viernheim in the 2013/14 season. In Austria he played in the state league and Bundesliga from 1997 to 2005 for ESV Austria Graz, with which he won the state chess league A in 2002/03 , and in the 2009/10 season for Union Styria Graz. In the Dutch Meester class he worked for Schaakstad Apeldoorn and the BIS Beamer Team from 2000 to 2002, and in Hungary until 2001 for Honvéd Budapest . He took part in the European Club Cup four times with Honvéd and finished second in 1995.
