Kingsbridge and Salcombe Railway

Kingsbridge and Salcombe Railway was a British railway company based in Devonshire , England .

On May 29, 1864, the Kingsbridge Railway received the concession to build a railway line between South Brent and Kingsbridge . However, it was not possible to organize enough financial support for the project in the region.

The Kingsbridge and Salcombe Railway was established on July 24, 1882. She took over the concession of the Kingsbridge Railway. The Great Western Railway took over the company it financed on August 13, 1888. The railway line was opened on December 19, 1893. In South Brent there was a connection to the South Devon Railway . As part of the Beeching ax , the route was shut down on September 16, 1963.
