Kingsbridge (6116 inhabitants) is a town in the South Hams district in Devon ( England ) and is located at the northern end of the Kingsbridge Estuary .
Kingsbridge's origins go back to the 13th century. The city was an important market place for centuries . Today it is off the beaten track; for example, it is not connected to the railway network.
In the historic old town, the parish church of St. Edmunds and the local museum are particularly worth seeing.
Kingsbridge, mentioned in the historical novels The Pillars of the Earth , The Gates of the World and The Foundation of Eternity by Ken Follett , describes another fictional city of the same name.
The German twin town of Kingsbridge is the municipality of Weilerbach near Kaiserslautern.
