Kidwelly and Burry Port Railway was a British railway company based in Carmarthenshire , Wales .

The Kidwelly and Llanelly Canal and Tramroad Company found themselves shortly after the opening of their canal in competition with the Carmarthenshire Railway , which was planning a railway line into the valley of the Gwendraeth Fawr . The company then received on July 5, 1865 the right to convert the canal into a railway line and change the name to Kidwelly and Burry Port Railway. On April 30, 1866, the company merged with the Burry Port Company to form the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway .
