Kinoplex (also: kinoplex.de and KINOPLEX ) is the name of a chain of cinemas. In Germany, Kinoplex.de belonged to KPE Multiplextheater GmbH & Co. KG . The chain's four cinemas in Germany (Flensburg, Wilhelmshaven, Paderborn and Bad Oeynhausen) were taken over by Kinopolis in 2004 . The name Kinoplex was probably chosen for practical reasons, as the "KINOPOLIS" text on the cinemas could be changed very cheaply, i.e. only three letters had to be exchanged and the name was not yet protected in Germany.

One of the houses, for example, was the Flensburg cinema at the ZOB . It has had the name of the Kinoplex since 2004. Today, however, it bears the name of the cinema operator chain UCI Kinowelt . All four cinemas in the chain were taken over by the UCI in 2008. The chain's old website, kinoplex.de , has since referred to that of the UCI. The cinema at the Flensburg ZOB initially continued to operate under the name UCI Kinoplex , until the name Kinoplex was gradually removed around 2012.

In Brazil there is the Grupo Severiano Ribeiro which also operates numerous cinemas under the name Kinoplex , but apparently also belongs to the UCI Kinoplex or cooperates with it. In Poland there are also some cinemas running under the name Kinoplex. There is no connection to Cineplexx .
