Kirche + Kunst is a German scientific journal for Christian art . It is published by the Association for Christian Art in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

The magazine , founded in 1909, was initially devoted to Christian art in and on Protestant church buildings , while a more ecumenical orientation has been discernible since the mid-1960s . In the course of a scientific paradigm shift in Christian archeology and art history on the one hand and in practical theology on the other hand, since the 1980s, questions of art hermeneutics , church pedagogy and aesthetic issues have increasingly found their way into the journal.
