The church Rechlin is a classical building in Inselstraße 9 in Rechlin Nord .

history

The Rechlin church was planned from 1805 and built in the years 1816 to 1832 in the classicism style. The plastered building and the associated site were sold to the tax authorities in 1917 and used for agriculture from 1930. In 1935 the church was consecrated as a garrison church and then served as an air force garrison church . It was the first church to be used ecumenically in this function. The gallery was dismantled during this time, as the hall character of the church should be emphasized. After the end of the war, the building served as a depot for the NVA , a gym, a granary and for other purposes. The Bundeswehr took over the property after the NVA left.

The sponsoring association Church Rechlin Nord rebuilt the building back to the church from 1990 without support from the regional church and provided bells, Ahlborn organ , stalls, etc. The original furnishings of the Rechlin church are in the church in Vietzen. The white plastered church with arched windows and field stone plinth received, as before, a brick pulpit without a sound cover. A harmonium was integrated into the room , and there is also an old, only partially preserved baptismal font made of limestone in the church. The ceiling shows a wooden beam construction. A sanitary block was installed under the pyramidal tower, which stands atypically behind the altar on the east side of the church; In addition, a small room with a kitchen for celebrations etc. was created. This work was completed in 1994.

The Bundeswehr handed over the church, which is also used for exhibitions and other cultural events, to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg in 1996 . The parish of Rechlin is now part of the Neustrelitz Propstei, Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

The consecration of bells followed in 1998. In addition to three new bells, a bell over 650 years old also belongs to the chiming of the Rechlin church. In the meantime she was in Vietzen.
