The Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary ( Russian Рымкайский храм во имя Рождества Богородицы ) is an old Orthodox-Pomoric church in the village of Rimkai in Lithuania . Is located 1 km from the center city Jonava , in the district of Kulva the jonava district municipality , in Kaunas district . The building was built from red bricks around 1900 and bears the patronage of the Birth of Mary . In the course of a renovation from 1994 to 1997, a church tower was added.

The Old Believers have lived in Rimkai since the 18th century. At that time the village belonged to the Vilnius Voivodeship . Before 1795 it was one of the oldest Russian centers in Lithuania . A church was mentioned in a document at the end of the 18th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the community had at least 1,000 members, although only 415 people lived in Rimkai.

Around 1900 a new walled church was built. In the interwar period of the 20th century, Rimkai was one of the largest ancient Orthodox communities in Lithuania. In 1937 it included 2,140 Old Believers. The Soviet authorities did not register the community until July 1948.
