The Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin in the village of St. Martin in the municipality of Feldkirchen in Kärnten is a branch church of the parish of Klein St. Veit (Feldkirchen in Kärnten).

history

The church, first mentioned in a document in 1136, was a parish church from 1519 to 1750.

Building

The Gothic building with a Romanesque core is surrounded by a cemetery and a cemetery wall. The mighty tower built on the south side of the nave has arched sound windows; there is an ossuary in the basement. The church is accessed through the west portal, a Gothic shoulder arch portal with a horizontal lintel in a rectangular frame made of crossed bars (cross bars). The portal is protected by a mighty porch with a horizontal stucco ceiling. The interior of the nave is closed at the top by a vault with stitch caps that cut diagonally. The choir has a two- bay star rib vault and a 3/8 end.

In the north wall of the choir, next to the altar, there is a rectangular sacrament niche that can be closed with a grille . Gothic frescoes can be seen underneath.

Facility

The high altar

The early Baroque high altar is a two-column shrine -Altar with an equestrian statue of St. Martin as the central figure. Assistant figures are on the left of St. Sebastian , on the right a St. Bishop. The top picture in the blown gable shows Mary with the baby Jesus.

In the shrine of the baroque left side altar there is a statue of Mary with a child. Assistant figures are on the left of St. Sebastian , on the right St. Rochus .

In the shrine of the baroque right side altar, the Archangel Michael can be seen with a flame sword and soul scales. Assistant figures are St. Johannes Nepomuk on the left and James the Elder on the right. An eye of providence is placed in the essay.

Other furnishings include console statues of St. Martin and the apostles Peter and Paul . A votive picture to St. Martin from 1798.
