The wooden church of St. Prokop and Barbara ( Kostel sv. Prokopa a Barbory in Czech ), also known as the Russian Church , has been located in the municipality of Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem in the Moravian Beskid foothills, Czech Republic , since 1931 . The former village church of Hliňanec bei Čiňadovo is one of the six Carpathian Russian churches that were implemented within Czechoslovakia before the Second World War .

history

The Greek Catholic Church of Archangel Michael in Hliňanec was built between the 17th and 18th centuries.

In 1926, the general director of the Witkowitz coal works, Eduard Šebela, bought a wooden villa based on Wallachian folk architecture in the upper part of Velké Kunčice pod Radhoštěm, which he made his summer residence and surrounded by a park.

During a trip to Carpathian Russia, the church of Hliňanec near Čiňadovo in the Okres Svalava aroused his interest. Šebela bought the church in 1928 for 24,000 crowns and had it demolished in order to restore it to the original and erect it opposite his villa on the square “Na Humenci” at the expense of the Beautification Association. On August 23, 1931, the church was consecrated by the Olomouc Auxiliary Bishop Jan Stavěl, the patron saint of miners. The little church equipped with icons is a typical church building in Carpathian Ukraine.

There was also a rumor among the population that Šebela should have bought the church for the wedding of his daughter. However, Milada Šebelová's magnificent wedding held in the church with Eduard Friedrich Wilhelm Leo Heinrich Johannes Maria Graf Larisch-Mönnisch did not take place until six years later, on December 16, 1937. The marriage itself was not very happy after the birth of their son Karl (* 1938 ) she was divorced again in 1942.
