History and architecture

A church in Stormbruch was in 1526 as a branch of Heringhausen called it belonged before the Reformation to Archidiakonat Horhusen . There is no tradition about the appearance or the construction time. It burned down in a major fire in 1784 and was rebuilt as a half-timbered church in 1792 , whereby the building material that had been preserved was reused. It had a wooden altar, a bell, and a blue, silk cloth with real silver braids on the pulpit . The organ builder Vogt from Korbach built a new organ in 1882. In the church there was a bench for each family in the village; the seating arrangements were based on the size of the property. Due to major repairs to be carried out on the building, the community decided in conjunction with the regional church to build a new building, which was realized from 1956 to 1957.

The modern new building rises above a hexagonal floor plan. Since the 1990s, ringing the bells was prohibited for safety reasons, as cracks had formed in the bell carrier. A new bell tower in 1997 solved the problem. In the manner of a campanile , a bell tower, which stylistically does not match the church building, was built. One bell from 1795 and two from 1968 ring in the tower.
