Architecture and history
The wooden church was erected in 1858 on the site of a previous building and was consecrated on August 7, 1859 by Bishop Jens Mathias Pram Kaurin . The architect was Captain Rolfsen from Nordfjordeid , who was also involved in other church building projects. The wood for the church came from the forests in the area. There is a small choir on the east side of the church. A roof turret is attached to the western part .
The interior of the church is richly decorated. At the altar there is an altar painting depicting the resurrection of Jesus . There are zinc candlesticks , chandeliers and a baptismal font with carved symbols. The carvings were created by Ole Elias Kjellstad and painted by Per Vigeland . The number plates and the carved twelve apostles also go back to Kjellstad . Both the windows of the choir and above the entrance are decorated with stained glass. The church has 270 seats.
The bell of the church was cast in Germany .
