The church from Kohlgrund is a rebuilt building in Hessenpark .

history

The church in Kohlgrund , today a district of Bad Arolsen , was built in 1613 . It replaced an older previous building. A baroque altar was built into the church before 1690. This is now located in the successor church in Kohlgrund, which was consecrated in 1971.

The construction of the successor church was found necessary because the foundations of the old church had sunk. A new building was significantly cheaper than renovating the historic building. The value of the old building was recognized. So the old building was dismantled and taken to the Detmold open-air museum to be rebuilt there.

In 1974 the Hessenpark was founded. Therefore it was decided to transfer the church into this. There it - opposite the windmill - was to become part of the assembly group F - North Hesse. In 1995, the shell of the church began to be rebuilt there. The interior was completed in 2011. On October 7, 2012, a service was celebrated again in the church.

A particular challenge in the reconstruction arose from the fact that the church had originally stood on a hillside. The sandstone floor slabs were therefore not horizontal and the pews followed this slope. According to the first electrification in 1929, the power lines were laid on the plaster. The cast-iron cylindrical stove also comes from the earlier building, as does the gallery built in 1868.
