Kohlgrund is a district of the small town Bad Arolsen in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

Geographical location

Kohlgrund lies directly on the border with Westphalia in the north of the urban area and is one of four villages in the Red Land . Landesstrasse 3198 and Kreisstrasse 66 meet in the village .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1537 and belonged to the Eilhausen office of the county of Waldeck . The place name is derived from a Koehler settlement. At Kohlgrund, charcoal was produced to smelt iron ore in the Orpe valley. Below the nearby Eilhausen estate, the largest hut in the area with four ovens worked until the 19th century .

On 1 July 1971. Mining Policy was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Arolsen incorporated .

The old church of Kohlgrund was rebuilt in Hessenpark as a church from Kohlgrund .
