Braunsen is a district of the small town Bad Arolsen in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg , Hesse .

location

The district is located about 3.5 kilometers southeast of the core town of Bad Arolsen and about 1.5 kilometers southwest of the Twistesee reservoir, in a valley framed by extensive forests, on the Twiste .

The place is still dominated by agriculture today.

history

The village was first mentioned around 1200 under the name Brunhardessen as the property of the Corvey Monastery . A castle is mentioned around 1255, the builder of which is said to have been the Lords of Brunhardessen . Exactly where it was can no longer be traced today.

As part of the Hessian regional reform, the village of Braunsen lost its independence on December 31, 1970 and was incorporated into the city of Arolsen.

The bakery built in 1860
  • Up until 2005, the bakehouse festival took place every year on May 1st, initially at the old bakery from 1860 and restored in 1979, and later at the village community center.
  • Braunsen maintains a village partnership with Schönfeld (municipality of Tantow ) in the Uckermark . Annual meetings are alternately organized to maintain this partnership.

The cultural life in Braunsen is shaped by the most varied of groups and associations: Altenclub, choir and singing communities, volunteer fire brigade , local and tourist association and Twistesee-Braunsen as well as a shooting society (founded in 1731).
