Essenbæk Church

The brick building of the new church in Essenbæk is located in the municipality of Assentoft , immediately east of Randers , in the far west of the Djursland peninsula , which in turn forms the eastern part of Jutland in Denmark . The church (hence “nye Essenbæk kirke”) was built from red bricks in 1868–69. The granite blocks of the medieval church ("gamle Essenbæk kirke"), which was located north of today's church, served as the base.

The artist Mogens Henri Jørgensen , born in 1914 and awarded the Eckersberg Medal of the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1984, carried out the extensive beautification of the church in the years 1967–1968. When designing the ceiling in the nave, variations in a red color were used, which are continued in the choir and apse. The windows adorned with lead ornaments have been provided with organic patterns in gray-tinted glass. A contrast to this is the window in the apse, which is characterized by its color spectrum and contributes to the decoration of the altar with a metal ornament made of copper.
