Guápulo Church

The Church of Guápulo is a church building in Guápulo , a district of the Ecuadorian capital Quito . The church was built in 1649 within the Guápulo monastery complex.

Architecture and equipment

Facade of the church

The nave is in the shape of a Latin cross and has a round dome. The facade is in the style of neoclassicism .

Inside, above the main altar, there is a historical work by the Spanish painter and sculptor Diego de Robles from Toledo , the sculpture of the Virgen de Guadalupe (Virgin of Guadalupe) from the sixteenth century. The multicolored version is by Luis de Rivera .
