Building description

The Puolanka Church was designed by Olavi Sortta and completed in 1954. Wood and brick were used as building materials. The tower-less building has a rectangular floor plan with a floor area of 403 m². A little to the side is a free-standing stack of bells . The steep gable roof reaches almost to the ground. Thus the architecture of the church draws on the formal language of the medieval Finnish stone churches . The three-aisled church hall offers space for 450 people. The altar panel was created in 1982 by the artist Paavo Tolonen .
