Catholic Church "To the Holy Family" Kaliningrad

The Church of the Holy Family is a neo-Gothic brick church in Kaliningrad , the former Königsberg , which is now used as a concert hall.

It was built in the Haberberg district near the Pregel between 1904 and 1907 by the architect Friedrich Heitmann . The large, three-aisled hall church was one of the new places of worship for the approaching Catholics of Königsberg . A branch of a St. Catherine's monastery was attached to the parish. During the Second World War, the church was largely undamaged. At first it served the Red Army as a hospital; then it was used as a fertilizer store. At the beginning of the 1980s, the church was partially renovated and has since served as the concert hall of the Kaliningrad Philharmonic. This made the installation of a new, excellent organ possible. The new organ with 44 registers and 3,600 pipes allowed even the best organists from the St. Petersburg Academies to come to Kaliningrad. The tower clock of the Kreuzkirche was built into the tower .
