Church building association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A church building association ( Kirchbauverein ) is an association that supports the construction and maintenance of church buildings .

definition

Usually, such an association is founded on their own initiative by residents of a town who want to build a church. Through donations, the members of the association participate in the procurement of the funds necessary for church building. Local companies are also written to and asked to help. Depending on the type of company, this help can range from financial support to the free provision of building materials or labor.

Club members often go from house to house and also ask for donations. The foundation of such an association is already an advertisement for the construction of the house of God and its support. Nowadays, many church building societies hold concerts or lectures to promote their project and to raise money.

In addition to the construction of churches, church building associations also fund the financing of initial or new furnishings (bells, altars, pews, heating, etc.).

After a church is completed, church building associations sometimes break up. They often persist to support upcoming renovations to the church.
