description

The Kirkpatrick Fleming Parish Church is located in the middle of the associated cemetery on the southern edge of the village near the left bank of the Kirtle Waters . It was built in 1735 and has been restored, expanded and partially rebuilt several times over the centuries.

The building has a T-shaped floor plan. Its masonry is made of red stone that has been carved into uneven blocks. On the gable above the main portal on the north side there is a small roof turret with an open bell. Door and window openings usually close with round-arched natural stone surrounds . In the inner corner of the building a staircase leads to the entrance area of the gallery. The roof is covered with gray slate.

Gravesite of the Grahams of Mossknowe

The grave of the Grahams of Mossknowe adjoins the western gable end. The renaissance building dates from the 17th century, possibly from 1673. It is older than the church. Its masonry consists of stone blocks that were built into layered masonry . The entrance on the west side has a profiled border. The facades are designed with cornices and balustrades that run between the pinnacles on the building edges.

In 2008 the structure was added to the register of endangered listed structures in Scotland. Numerous details are lost and wild vegetation is spreading in the interior. One of the walls bulges. In 2014, the condition of the grave site was classified as very poor with moderate risk. Her condition has deteriorated only slightly since 2008.
