Kiss on My List is a 1981 Hall & Oates song written by Daryl Hall and Janna Allen. It appeared on the Voices album and was produced by Daryl Hall and John Oates .

history

Kiss on My List was originally intended for Janna Allen, the sister of Hall's longtime friend Sara Allen, as Janna was interested in a career as a singer. Hall recorded a demo that a manager of the band later found in the studio. He listened to the demo and, like the production team for the album Voices afterwards, insisted that Hall & Oates release the song. The drum machine used was a Roland CR-78 , which could also be heard in In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins . It was published on July 24, 1980.

Hall describes the song as an "anti-love song" because the title is in an ironic and sarcastic context.

Music video

The music video for the song was one of the first clips to air on MTV's first day of broadcast. A live performance by the band was used as the music video.
