Kista Strait

The Kista Strait is a strait between the Mawson Coast of the east Antarctic Mac Robertson Land and the offshore Flat Islands and the Jocelyn Islands .

Norwegian cartographers mapped it based on aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 , but left it unnamed. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1961 after the transport ship Kista Dan , which had sailed the strait in 1954 on the way to the construction of the Mawson station .
