Kitano Masaji ( Japanese 北野 政 次 ; * July 14, 1894 in Hyōgo Prefecture ; † May 17, 1986 ) was a doctor, microbiologist and lieutenant general in the Imperial Japanese Army . He was the second in command of Unit 731, a covert research and development unit for biological and chemical warfare. Unit 731 is known for its war crimes committed by the Japanese.
