economy

Kitengela began as the Kitengela Group's ranch consisting of 18,292 acres of land and 214 registered members, which was divided into pasture systems in 1988 in an effort by the government to encourage private land ownership with the aim of intensifying and commercializing livestock. After the group farm was subdivided, land fragmentation and sales have continued at a steady and escalating pace.

Meanwhile, members of the middle class are increasingly settling in Kitengela and the real estate market is growing.
