A kitting is an old rural storage building. These buildings are mainly found in what is now central and southern Burgenland ( Heanzenland ).

The word kitting is related to kitten , it describes a construction method in which a wooden frame was puttied with clay. Some examples can be seen in the open-air museum in Bad Tatzmannsdorf and in the Ensemble Gerersdorf open-air museum .
