Kitty & Knut is the name of a music project that came about in spring 2007 as a result of the international media hype surrounding the polar bear Knut , who was born in Berlin's zoo . It is produced by the two Berliners Erik McHoll and Andreas John.

background

In response to the huge media interest in the fate of the young bear who had been cast out by his mother, McHoll wrote the children's song Knut, the little polar bear, within 30 minutes of its presentation to the public . To record the song, he asked the cousin of his friend Kitty, a nine-year-old student from the Berlin district of Köpenick , to help. When the producers offered the song for viewing on video platforms on the Internet at the end of March, it itself triggered a hype . It was clicked over 50,000 times within a few days.

The Berlin record label DEAG Music signed the song and released it as a single on March 30, 2007. It immediately placed itself in the German and Austrian single charts.
