Sound gesture
A sound gesture is a sound made with the help of the human body.
Elementary sound gestures are:
- Clapping (a slap with one hand on the other hand)
- Knocking (a blow with your fist on a suitable material, e.g. wood)
- Slapping (slapping one hand on a different part of the body than the other hand)
- Snapping fingers (the sound of a hand)
- Stamping (with your foot on the ground)
- Clicking the tongue (with the tongue on the roof of the mouth )
- Whistling (with the lips)
Combinations of sound gestures are called body percussion , but folk music forms Schuhplattler , Juba , Zapateado and Flamenco also combine sound gestures. The imitation of different rhythm noises with the mouth is called vocal percussion or beatboxing .
Sound gestures are used specifically in early musical education .
