Klaus Behling

Klaus Behling (* 1949 in Damgarten ) is a German journalist and author. The focus of his work are non-fiction books on the history of the GDR .

Life

Behling studied Asian Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and specialized in the language and culture of Cambodia . From 1972 to 1977 he was a diplomat in Laos and Cambodia. In 1979 he was again in Cambodia as charge d'affaires ad interim of the GDR representative. He then worked as a cultural attaché in Romania and from 1987 to 1991 at the Institute for International Relations in Potsdam, where he dealt with Indochina research until 1991 and also published in the GDR press. He then worked as a journalist at Axel Springer Verlag in Berlin, including as a reporter for the Bild newspaper .

Since the beginning of the 2000s and especially after his retirement, he has appeared as a book author and published a large number of titles mainly on the history of the GDR, in particular on the state security service and other state secrets. Several works were created in collaboration with Jan Eik and other co-authors.
