Klaus Donner (born September 14, 1945 in Hildburghausen ) is a German mathematician specializing in numerical mathematics , image processing , optical measurement technology and CAD systems and the founder and owner of alfavision GmbH, which operates in the field of image processing and optical measurement technology.

Life

In 1972 Donner received a diploma in mathematics from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1974 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on representation theory for algebras under H. Bauer at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. 1974–1980 he was an assistant at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 1980 he completed his habilitation in approximation theory : "Continuation of positive operators and Korovkin theorems ", followed by a six-month research stay at the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg . In 1982 Donner received a professorship at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . Since 1983 he has held the chair for numerical mathematics and analysis at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Passau and head of the Institute for Software Systems in Technical Applications of Computer Science, formerly FORWISS (Bavarian Research Center for Knowledge-Based Systems) at the University of Passau with a focus on image processing, optical measuring technology, CAD systems and the associated numerical algorithms .
