Klaus Michler

Klaus Michler (born May 15, 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic champion .

Klaus Michler played for the Crefelder HTC . In 1989 the midfielder won the Junior World Championship with the German team. In 1991 he made his debut in the German national hockey team , with which he won the title at the European field hockey championship in the same year. At the 1992 Olympic Games , Michler took part in all seven games and achieved the first Olympic victory with the German team in twenty years.

For winning the gold medal, he and the German hockey team received the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993.

In 1994 Michler was also European champion in the hall. After finishing fourth at the 1994 World Cup, Michler was again part of the German team in 1995, when they successfully defended the 1991 European title. In his second Olympic participation in Atlanta in 1996 , the German team finished fourth. At the end of his international career Michler won the bronze medal with the German team at the 1998 World Cup . Michler played in 162 international matches, 5 of them indoors.
