Klaus W. Wellershoff

Klaus Wilhelm Wellershoff (born February 13, 1964 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a German economist .

Life

Wellershoff completed a banking apprenticeship at the Cologne private bank Sal. Oppenheim . He then studied economics and business administration at the University of St. Gallen . In 1996 he received his doctorate in St. Gallen on financial markets in the political-economic process. He was a visiting fellow in the Department of Economics at Harvard University .

In 1995 Wellershoff became chief economist at the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBV) and in 1998, when the SBV merged with the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBG) to form UBS , also their chief economist until 2009. From 2003 he also headed all research in the Wealth Management and Business Banking division was head of the investment committee for this part of the company. From 2003 to 2009 he was a member of the UBS executive board.

In 2009 Wellershoff founded the consulting company Wellershoff & Partners , which he also runs himself.

In 2005 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the Research Association for Economics at the University of St. Gallen (FGN-HSG), and has been its President since 2011. He is on the Board of Trustees of the World Demographic Association and on the Board of Directors of Schindler Holding .

Since 2009 he has been a columnist for the trade newspaper and takes every Friday in the mission Wirtschaftswoche of Radio DRS 4 part. Since 2011 he has been an honorary professor for applied economics at the University of St. Gallen.

He is married, has four sons and lives in Switzerland .
