Klause Höchstädt
The Höchstädt Klause was a religious women's community in Höchstädt on the Danube . It was located in the old town right next to the parish church. Probably originating from a Beguinage , it later adopted the Augustine Rule. Since, unlike in Giengen, there is no evidence that Augustinian hermits are cared for, and there are no signs of a monastery belonging to the Augustinian choir women , the modest monastic community, which is not included in the monasteries in Bavaria database, can best be described as a sister house with Augustinian rules.
The hermitage, run by a master, is said to have been mentioned for the first time in 1322. It appears in 1338 in Heinrich von Nördlingen's letters .
The hermitage was abolished during the Reformation in the middle of the 16th century, the Klausenhaus demolished. There was also a Klausenhaus, a small spiritual community, in Neustadt.
