Kleinbahn Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster

The Kleinbahn Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster GmbH was a municipal company in the Celle district until 1908 and was originally called Kleinbahn Garßen-Bergen .

It was the builder and operator of the Celle – Soltau railway and its Beckedorf – Munster branch .

The initiative to build a small train to Bergen came from the district of Celle . The Garßen – Beckedorf – Bergen section was opened on April 23, 1902. The end point at Garßen came about because no agreement could be reached with the city of Celle on the route in the area of the city. After the approval of the Celle – Wittingen small railway , however, a solution could be found in the form of an introduction to their route. So more than two years later, on December 13, 1904, the line to Celle-Vorstadt on the Celle – Wittingen railway was put into operation, enabling direct traffic from Bergen to Celle. Passenger traffic to Garßen was thus given up, freight traffic (handover to the state railway) on September 1, 1910. However, the railway facilities in Garßen were not finally dismantled until the 1930s.

An operating community was agreed with Kleinbahn Celle-Wittingen AG as early as 1905.

On April 23, 1910, the line was extended from Bergen to Soltau and from Beckedorf to Munster. For this purpose, the Kleinbahn Celle – Soltau, Celle – Munster was founded as a GmbH in 1908, in which, in addition to the district of Celle, the Kingdom of Prussia, the province of Hanover and the districts of Fallingbostel and Soltau, the city of Celle and several neighboring communities were involved.

In the course of the upgrade, several connections to military camps were created (Scheuen, Bergen), which caused heavy traffic. Since 1940 the railway was no longer treated as a small railway, but as a railway of public transport due to a uniform regulation in the Reich; this was expressed in the new company Eisenbahn Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster .

On March 1, 1944, a merger agreement with the Celle-Wittingen AG railway to form the Celler Eisenbahn AG came into force, which merged on July 10, 1944 to form Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen AG.

Today there is regular museum railway operation on both routes .
