The narrow-gauge railway Lüneburg-Soltau GmbH was on 15 February 1911 by the Kingdom of Prussia , the Province of Hanover , the district Lueneburg and Soltau founded. On June 13, 1913, it opened its only line from Lüneburg to Soltau .

The 57 km long standard gauge "mountain railway" ran from Lüneburg through the middle of the Lüneburg Heath via Amelinghausen-Sottorf and Hützel. This is where the Winsen – Evendorf – Hützel (“Luhebahn”) small railway converged. Finally the line reached the Soltau junction.

In 1920 the railway company also took over the management of the Soltau – Neuenkirchen railway line , for which it also provided the vehicles and staff. The management of both railways from June 1, 1923 to July 1944, was the responsibility of the State Small Railway Authority of the Province of Hanover . After the merger of the Kleinbahn-Gesellschaft with the Kleinbahn Soltau-Neuenkirchen GmbH to form the Lüneburg – Soltauer Eisenbahn GmbH on January 1, 1944 , this merged into the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen AG on July 10, 1944 .
