from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Echenbrunn Monastery is a former Benedictine abbey in the Echenbrunn district of the city of Gundelfingen on the Danube in Bavaria in the diocese of Augsburg .

history

The monastery, consecrated to St. Peter and Paul, was founded in 1122 by Gumbert von Flochberg, a nobleman. It was dissolved in 1556 on the orders of Ottheinrich , Elector of the Palatinate. In 1672 Jesuits from Dillingen built a summer residence on the former monastery grounds, which later became the property of the Maltese . In the place of the monastery there is now a rectory, a saddle roof building from 1732. The walling with a pointed arch gate probably dates back to the 16th century.
