Echenbrunn

Echenbrunn is a district of Gundelfingen an der Donau in the district of Dillingen an der Donau ( Bavaria ). The formerly independent municipality of Echenbrunn was incorporated into Gundelfingen on May 1, 1978.

The parish village, which today has grown together structurally with Gundelfingen, is 436 meters above sea level. Echenbrunn is located near the edge of the terrace above the Brenz .

history

Finds from the Hallstatt , Celtic and Roman times have been excavated in the area of ​​Echenbrunn .

The place is first handed down in 1122 as an Echin fountain . It was probably created from Gundelfingen as an extension. Before 1122 the monastery in Echenbrunn was founded by the nobles Gumpert and Kuno, relatives of the Lords of Gundelfingen . The Benedictine monastery owned in Hygstetten , Peterswörth and Gundelfingen.

Together with the Höchstädt Regional Court , Echenbrunn came from the Duchy of Bavaria-Landshut to the newly formed Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg in 1505 .
