history

The wooden church in Jonava was built in 1750 and the Marian monastery was founded around 1775 . By 1782 the Marians founded a community school (they were invited to Jonava by Dominykas Kosakovskis ). Instead of Marians, the Trinitarians were invited to Jonava in 1791. In 1797 the Marians left Jonava.

From 1791 to 1793 the church and monastery were built and expanded (as assumed, according to the project of the Lithuanian architect Laurynas Gucevičius ).

In 1827 the Trinitarians were expelled from Jonava by the government. The soldiers settled in the monastery until 1894. In 1832 the monastery was formally closed. In 1851 the monastery was remounted.
