Mainburg Monastery
The monastery Mainburg is a monastery of the Pauline Fathers in Mainburg in Lower Bavaria .
history
The monastery was founded in 1893 by the Shoed Carmelites (or Calceates, OCC for short) and ran until 1917. From 1918 to 1978 they were followed by the Capuchin Order .
In 1981 the Paulines , who returned from Czestochowa in Silesia , founded their first modern branch in Germany in the Mainburg monastery. Five Paulines currently live and work in the monastery. They look after the surrounding parishes with pastoral care.

Today's monastery church of St. Salvator was built in 1723 on the site of an older church. The Way of the Cross on the Salvatorberg was built in 1854 and the Way of the Cross group in front of the church in 1882. The monastery itself was built in 1893, the staircase with 176 steps along the Way of the Cross originally dates from 1909 and was completely restored in 2008 .
