Monastery of the Annunciation

The Monastery of the Annunciation is a monastery of the Ursulines in Würzburg in Bavaria in the Diocese of Würzburg. It was founded in 1712 by the Ursuline convent in Kitzingen , and in 1725 the Antoniterkirche was taken over ; Despite its charitable educational work, it was dissolved in 1804 in the course of secularization and the entire monastery property was auctioned. In 1808 the monastery was restored as a foundation by the Grand Duke of Tuscany at the instigation of Auxiliary Bishop Gregor Zirkel and the population of Würzburg . The admission of novices was only allowed again in 1826 and in 1827 three female candidates re-entered the order, who had to prove their suitability for the teaching profession before a state examination committee. The St. Ursula School belongs to the monastery.
