Monastery Rougemont (lat. Abbatia BMV de Nazareth ) is a Canadian Cistercian - Abbey in the province of Quebec in Rougemont, Rouville (regional county municipality) .

history

The Lérins Abbey in 1932 founded the monastery of Notre-Dame de Nazareth 50 km east of Montreal in Rougemont, Diocese of Saint-Hyacinthe , in the hope of awakening vocations that for a monastic foundation in Vietnam were needed and stayed away in France. This hope remained unfulfilled, but the monastery showed itself to be viable and implemented land management (with fruit trees) that is now considered a unique cultural heritage in Québec. Rougemont is (along with several Trappist monasteries) the only monastery in Canada of Cistercian monks of general observance.

Abbot of Rougemont is Dom Raphaël Bouchard OCist.
