history
The diocese of Saint-Hyacinthe was on June 8, 1852 by Pope Pius IX. Erected from cessions of territory by the Diocese of Montréal and the Archdiocese of Québec . On August 28, 1874, the diocese of Saint-Hyacinthe gave parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Sherbrooke .
The diocese of Saint-Hyacinthe is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke as a suffragan .
